Set in the heart of a village, this house was designed to have high environmental qualities and has been an opportunity to utilise new ideas. A particular aspect of the house is the external wall construction, using hemp-lime (Hemcrete).
The house is organised to provide ample south facing glazing to achieve the benefits of solar gain in winter. The structure utilises an oak frame, exposed internally and arranged on the principle of a repetitive series of bays. A central bay provides a double height open gallery area with staircase rising infront of the south facing windows.
